According to the USGS/NEIC on-line Earthquake Search in the second half of 2011 there were no earthquakes from the magnitude range M8.0+ and one earthquake from the M7.5+ range in KERMADEC ISLANDS REGION. This one has the following parameters – 2011/07/06 19:03:18 -29.539 -176.340 17.0 mb7.0 Ms7.8 7.6MWWCMT 7.6MWGCMT – and casts a failure-to-predict in the absence of M8 TIPs in progress.
